Avoid Jealous and Selfishness -By Vivekananda

Go on bravely.
Do not expect success in a day or a year.
Always hold on to the highest. Be steady.
Avoid jealousy and selfishness.
Be obedient and eternally faithful to the cause of truth, humanity, and your country, and you will move the world.
Remember, it is the person, the life, which is the secret of power--nothing else. Keep this letter and read the last lines
whenever you feel worried or jealous. Jealousy is the bane of all slaves. It is the bane of our nation. Avoid that always.

Think practically about truth

Think practically about truth

Be practical in your expressions of friendship. Kindly sentiment, if unsupported by kind deeds, has merely sentimental value. Truth friendship is much more than a smile.

Show your appreciation to others for what they are, and for what they do. The secret of attracting abundance in life is gratitude.

Support others in their worthwhile goals, and let them feel your support. Don't merely wave at them in abstract blessing.

Spiritual Discipline

Sadhana (spiritual discipline) determines the character of a person and character in turn determines one's destiny. Character is cultivated by performing good actions. Actions are based on one's thoughts and intentions. Whenever any thought arises in the mind, one should examine whether it is right or wrong, whether it will benefit society or cause harm. Actions should be based on such enquiry. It is wrong to blame anyone for our misfortunes. Our thoughts and actions alone are responsible for our plight. If one entertains pure thoughts and does all actions with firm faith in God, one will be favoured with God's Grace.

No Man - No God

Without the sanction of the Lord, man cannot achieve anything in the world.
The Divine is the basis for everything. Man, however, is filled with conceit that he is the one who is doing everything. This pride is the cause of his ruin.
It is the cause of his frustration and disappointment. Man today is basing his life on reliance on Nature and is hence forgetting God.
This is a grievous mistake. You must place your faith in God, the Creator of the universe, and then enjoy what Nature provides. Faith in God is the primary requisite for man

True values of truth

The truth never needs to be shouted, except only to make it audible to a crowd. Express your convictions calmly. Respect other people’s need to arrive at the truth in their own way, and at their own pace.

When beginning an undertaking, don’t ask, “What have others done before?” Ask instead, each time, “What does this particular enterprise require?”

Tell a story today to bring a smile to someone who is feeling lonely or depressed.
